An invitation · v1
Starting with people I know.
I’ve been working on my own for years. I think most of you have too. This is an attempt at fixing that.
Sunbeam v1 is small — people I know. Designers, developers, photographers, filmmakers. There’s no fee and nothing to apply for. The idea is that we share what we know, what we own, and the work that comes our way.
Most of it is mundane and useful. What a job should pay. Which clients don’t pay. Gear nobody’s using. Problems someone here has already been through. And somewhere to ask questions without it being a big deal.
In return, two things: answer people properly when you know the answer, and credit everyone who worked on a thing.
If you build something with us, we agree which of two arrangements it is before starting. Built on Sunbeam’s servers, it’s a Sunbeam project: open source, your copyright, and you can fork it if you ever leave. Made on your own and brought here, it’s published via Sunbeam: it stays fully yours, and it gets the mark and a spot on the site. Sunbeam takes no fee and no equity either way.
That’s it. If you’re interested, reply with what you make and what would be useful to you.
