Pre-seed investment in what Sunbeam members build. Part-owned by Sunbeam, whose share keeps First Light free.
Someone finishes First Light, our free three-month program, and stands there holding a real piece of work. Turning it into a company takes money.
The Accelerator is the pre-seed investment vehicle of Sunbeam, a community of people who finish things. We back people who have shown they can finish, mostly in First Light. They bring the thing they made, and we help it become the thing they do.
The Accelerator is a straight venture fund. Backers earn ordinary venture returns, Sunbeam among them: it part-owns and funds the Accelerator, and its share of the wins keeps First Light free. The cap in the governance proposal sits one level up, on investment in Sunbeam itself.
